CHAMPIO TRI LUC MASTER WITH THE CHAMPION – LION CHAMPIONSHIP 11 NAMES FOUR NEW OWNERS OF THE VIETNAM MMA CHAMPIONSHIP BELT
The LION Championship 11 event ended an emotional 2023 Vietnam MMA season with the new champions.
LION Championship 11 night ended with an emotional match between 65kg champion Nghiem Van Y and Brazilian opponent Felipe Negochadle.
Right from the beginning of the match, Felipe Negochadle used the forte of a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to pull Nghiem Van Y to the floor. A series of diverse armlocks were launched, but Nghiem Van Y still successfully defended.
A breakthrough occurred in the fourth round, Felipe Negochadle successfully pulled Nghiem Van Y to the floor. Instead of locking the champion from a sitting position, Negochadle switched to a side control position to perform a quick armbreaker. The attack caused Nghiem Van Y to clap his hands in defeat, and the 65kg championship belt officially changed hands.
In the previous match, Vietnamese-Polish boxer Kamil Michael Nguyen Van had a completely overwhelming position against young talent Ban Van Hoang.
Kamil Michal Nguyen Van’s victory brought him the 70kg championship belt. The throne is vacant after former king Tran Quang Loc retired. Previously, in the finals of LION Championship 2022 and LION Championship 06, Kamil both missed the title when he lost points to Quang Loc.
The power of the chokeholds continued to be demonstrated in the 60kg title match between Robson Oliveira and Bui Truong Sinh. With just a few knockout blows, Oliveira brought the fight to the floor and finished his opponent quickly with an armbar. The entire match was limited to the first half. The 60kg championship left by Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat officially belonged to the Brazilian boxer.
In the 84kg title match, Pham Cong Minh and Tran Quoc Toan brought to the audience a confrontation with eye-catching punches and kicks. With the stature of a boxer who won the World Wushu silver medal and won the national championship for 8 consecutive years, Cong Minh completely overwhelmed his junior Tran Quoc Toan. After a series of standing attacks from Cong Minh, Quoc Toan only surrendered when he was thrown to the mat and conceded defeat with a rain of punches.
